With Crystal Palace's hopes of securing a European place via the league looking increasingly unlikely, the Eagles' main attention for the season turns to the FA Cup final.

Winning the club's first FA Cup would see them grab a spot in the Europa League and it seems like every Premier League game is an audition for that moment now.

Against Nottingham Forest, Oliver Glasner named an unchanged side from the one that dismantled Aston Villa at Wembley.

And they raced out of the blocks at Selhurst Park, keen to impress their home fans and continue the feel-good factor around the club after their FA Cup exploits.

But Forest recovered and grew into the game, and the visitors were able to bite back immediately after Eberechi Eze's penalty.

There will be frustration that Palace did not go on to win the game. Eze, Eddie Nketiah and Maxence Lacroix all had great chances to snatch it at the death.

While the FA Cup final will be the focus, Palace still have a league-high finish to aim for, with just three more points needed to beat last season's club record points tally of 49.

Crystal Palace will be on a high after booking their place in the FA Cup final, so this is another very tricky game for Nottingham Forest, who slipped up at home against Brentford on Thursday.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side will have to be stubborn and resolute to get anything at Selhurst Park. They have shown that kind of character plenty of times already this season - but they really need it now.

Looking at the race for the top five, you feel like every team involved needs to win every game, but of course that is not going to happen, and I can see my boyhood team Forest dropping more points here.

I just hope it does not prove crucial for them.

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has been speaking to the media before Monday's Premier League game against Nottingham Forest (kick-off 20:00 BST).

Here are the key lines from his news conference:

• On team news: "All players are still fit, no problems. All players take part in the training sessions, and this is how we want to end the season. We have three-and-a-half weeks now. We want to end the season at the best level that's possible – and the players give me confidence that this is possible."

• Glasner confirmed that the players had a couple of days to enjoy the "good times at the moment" but there was a film session yesterday of their performance in the semi-final of the FA Cup.

• On the intensity and sharpness of players in training: "We had two very good sessions. I was very surprised – usually after four days off, it takes a bit of time, but the players looked very sharp, very focused, with great intensity and quality in the training sessions, and today was the same."

• Glasner also stated that he talked to the players about the FA Cup final against Manchester City for "30 seconds" and then made it very clear that the focus on the cup final will only be after the Tottenham Hotspur game on May 11.

• On Palace achieving record points: "Our goal is very clear and we want to have the most points in Palace history. That means we need at least five in four games and the best thing to achieve is getting three points against Nottingham and then three points against Tottenham. Then the first goal is achieved, and then we can focus on the final in FA Cup."

• The Austrian coach played down contract talks as he insisted that neither he nor the club "is in a rush" to sign a new deal. Glasner reiterated that the club can ill-afford to lose focus at this crucial point of the season.

• On Nottingham Forest: "We want to win at home. I watched the semi-finals against City, I watched them yesterday evening and it showed what a good team they are even if they lost both the games. They are playing for European places and they will be very motivated and we will need the same motivation."

Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze has been involved in 13 goals in his past 18 starts in all competitions (six goals, seven assists).

Another goal would see him become the first Palace player since they returned to the Premier League in 2013 to have both 10 or more goals and 10 or more assists in all competitions in a season.

Ian: Daichi Kamada got a lot of stick from Palace fans earlier in the season but has gradually been improving and has been excellent in the last two games against Arsenal and Villa, rarely giving the ball away. Could he be the Eagles' secret weapon in the FA Cup final?

Stanis: Surely Ismaila Sarr has been the Premier League's best value signing this season, costing roughly £12.5M from Marseille? Lacroix isn't far behind either!

Morcoos: I think that no-one is talking about the absolute brilliance of Lacroix as a centre-back, as he is one of the highest rated players for last man defending and he is crucial to our back line.

David: No one mentions it, but Will Hughes has had his best season for Palace. He has shown an attacking side that no one knew he had. He is out of the team at the moment due to suspension and injury, but is my player of the season.

Calan: Dean Henderson is having the season of his life.

Thomas: Oliver Glasner is the best manager at Palace ever. He's brought a new type of football to the club and this season we are safe from relegation, made a League Cup quarter final and an Fa Cup final. He still may give us our first major trophy. He is definitely the most underrated manger and people don't talk about him enough.

Until this season, Eberechi Eze had never scored in a senior cup competition - not for QPR or Wycombe on loan, and never for Crystal Palace.

He now has five this season, and in each of the past two rounds of the FA Cup, a moment of Eze brilliance has broken the deadlock in the first half and put a crack in the opposition's spirit.

If the lone question mark over his Premier League season has been his goalscoring record compared to years past, it's doubtful anyone will mind that he saved his best for these vital games in another competition.

In Palace teams of the recent past, the focus was restricted to a couple of key attacking players, often that classic tandem of wingers, but the feeling is that this squad is more complete - it has more potential match-winners.

After all, this was a game in which Jean-Philippe Mateta saw a goal dubiously disallowed and a penalty hit the post. Yet others were there to step up in his place rather than the collective heads dropping.

The atmosphere and the pilgrimage to Wembley would have made the day memorable on their own. Winning the game in such a dominant fashion against one of the form teams in England was bordering on the unbelievable.

The flags were already waving in the lower tier into stoppage time, with the game all but won, obscuring the view of many as Ismaila Sarr delivered a third goal in the dying minutes.

It is only a few weeks until the fans descend again onto Wembley Way. We've had our lovely day in the sun now, seen familiar faces and revelled in a victory together. Manchester City are up next, and Palace are turning up with every intention to win it, and there's little reason to doubt them.

Crystal Palace "were sensational" against Aston Villa , says The Telegraph's Luke Edwards.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast, Edwards said Palace "did a job" on Unai Emery's men, totally outperforming a squad that made it deep into the Champions League this season.

"If they hadn't had such a bad start to the season then who knows where they could have ended up in the league because they have been one of the better sides over the second half of the season," Edwards said.

"Oliver Glasner got it spot on and the big players showed up for them in what was a complete team performance.

"And the fans turned up as well. I have read a lot about how loud the Palace fans were compared to the Aston Villa end. You could see how much it meant to them.

"As an old romantic, I hope Palace win the final because they have not won a major trophy before. They certainly have the chance to because although they play Manchester City, there are still some vulnerabilities in that side

"We have seen it with Newcastle winning the Carabao Cup this season and it is a great story."

We asked for your thoughts after Saturday's FA Cup semi-final between Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, as Oliver Glasner's side sealed their spot in the final at Wembley.

Chris: This team just fizzes with excitement when playing at their best. Ismaila Sarr is a criminally underrated signing of the season for Palace and improvements from players such as Will Hughes, Tyrick Mitchell and Dean Henderson have been immense. On their day, they can go toe to toe with anyone. Bring on the final!

Jamie: Incredible. We dominated the famous Villa on the pitch and in the stands. I fancy us against whoever we play in the final. Up the Palace!

Chris: Outstanding. Our best performance of the season (so far)! We could have, and perhaps should have, been 3-0 up at half-time. Then if you add the missed penalty and the two second-half goals... 10 out of 10 for all of the players, but 11 out of 10 for tactical genius Oliver Glasner.

Bill: Very rarely do you have the pick of at least 11 players for man of the match. From Henderson's heroics to Sarr's lethal finishing, every single player turned up and played at their best. We thoroughly deserved the win and our place in the final.

Al: To a man, we were exceptional. We executed the game plan perfectly and the only time Villa threatened to get on top was after the penalty miss. But the fans lifted the team and Sarr did the rest. Daichia Kamada's reincarnation as James McArthur is a great surprise too.

Carolyn: The best birthday present. Well done Palace. The supporters were fantastic and there was a real family feel in the stands. Everyone was congratulating each other when the goals went in. It was a great way to celebrate.
