Everton fans

Terry: It was a poor game but we will take the point and move on. It's going to be a big summer because we need quality all over the pitch, but there's enough good players in the squad to give us a solid base. One more game ticked off. The countdown to the Southampton game is on, which is going to be so emotional.

Mike: An excellent performance from a team with increasing belief made this great result possible. David Moyes has once again built a side that looks greater than the sum of its parts.

Stephen: They battled bravely but the class gap could be seen. Hopefully we spend money in the closed season.

Chris: We have forgotten how to win again! Six games and counting. The early Moyes effect has worn off and we are back to be being an average team, with below average players! A massive rebuild is required in the summer and I'm doubting now if Moyes is the right man to take us forward.

Arsenal fans

Jim: Poor game again. Mikel Arteta's philosophy of not wanting to lose a game just stifles us in trying to win. We will get battered by Real Madrid. I do think his time is nearly up.

Osato: I think Arsenal played well and probably should've won with more goals, but that Everton penalty was a very wrong decision in my opinion. I think the standard of refereeing in the Premier League has been lowered and VAR isn't helping like it is supposed to.

Rachel: It's clear that Arsenal are going to desperately miss Gabriel for the remainder of the season. He is the cheerleader of the team, the backbone, the motivator, the monster defender and the one we can least afford to lose out of everyone. I think we'll struggle to win another game without him. He is the beating heart of Arsenal and a massive loss.

Simon: Arsenal have clearly thrown in the towel on winning the Premier League. They are just not clinical enough and are lacking the hunger to be champions.

Everton winger Jack Harrison has been speaking to BBC Radio Merseyside following the draw at Goodison Park: "I think it's obviously good to get a point against Arsenal, one of the top teams in the league. A lot of us feel frustrated and maybe we feel we could've come away with a win, especially at home and the way the game was going at the end of the second half.

"It was a bit of a frustrating start but being able to come away with a point against Arsenal is always good for us. We just have to crack on now, we have a lot of room for improvement.

"Against a team like Arsenal, it is always going to be tougher for us attacking players. There was a lot of defending involved and so sticking together as a team is really important.

"In the second half, I felt we were able to do that and just hold them to one goal. But, at the same time, we need to try and get up the other side of the pitch and do our best to attack.

"So we created a couple of chances but we would have liked to have improved in that aspect a little bit today."

On the penalty: "I felt like it was a penalty straightaway. I tried to read the flight of the ball, going on the other side of the defender, and he brought me down from that angle.

"I got up straightaway to try and carry on playing, because you never know with VAR, but the referee had already blown the whistle and called a penalty so that was it."

On his aims for the rest of the season: "I want to try and add more goals and assists. I want to contribute as much as I can to this club. It's been amazing being here, I know it's just on loan but hopefully we can see what happens going forward.

"I just want to continue my growth as a player and contribute as much as I can to this amazing club."

Everton manager David Moyes has been speaking to BBC Match of the Day about the game: "Our first-half performance was really poor - sloppy and slacking from the first moment. We gave Arsenal encouragement and that's the one thing they certainly don't need. They are a good enough team [without it].

"Credit to the players. They turned it around at half-time, got about it and a great reaction from the crowd that helped us get a penalty and, in the end, we got a point against a good team."

On playing Liverpool on Wednesday: "If you're going to become a top team, you have to get used to playing midweek. We are probably not used to it here. I think it was a factor, with the early kick-off those extra hours can make a difference. We didn't start well."

On what is still to play for this season: "I've said to the players that the challenge we've got is to prove how we get on against the better teams. We are trying to play better, we didn't do that today, so we need to find a way we can do that. Moving forward, we are trying to find how to get better against better sides."

On Iliman Ndiaye: "We missed Iliman, he is one of our major talents. We have missed Dwight McNeil as well and we are without Dom [Calvert-Lewin], so we've had to find a way to get results.

"We've done a pretty good job. We are just about there, not mathematically, but just about clear of being a Premier League team.

"I will probably visit the stadium this week now that I'm feeling that way."

Everton are the first team to record four consecutive home draws in the Premier League since Chelsea in February 2016.

Iliman Ndiaye's penalty equaliser was his seventh Premier League goal this season, the outright most of any Everton player.

This is going to be difficult for Arsenal. Everton defended so well against Liverpool on Wednesday, and they carried a real threat too, with Beto running in behind.

Bukayo Saka was back for the Gunners against Fulham and he will obviously boost their attack but they have picked up a few defensive injuries, including Gabriel being out for the rest of the season.

Mikel Arteta's side have got Tuesday's Champions League tie with Real Madrid to think about and, on top of that, this is an early kick-off to deal with too. None of that helps.

I want Arsenal to keep on winning to put some pressure on Liverpool but Everton drew 0-0 at Emirates Stadium in December, when Sean Dyche was in charge, and everything points towards a similar outcome this time.

Everton manager David Moyes has spoken out about the death threats made towards James Tarkowski and his family, stating abuse is "not acceptable for anybody in any walk of life".

The centre-back was involved in a controversial tackle in Wednesday's Merseyside derby against Liverpool, which Moyes concedescould have resulted in his player being shown a red card.

Speaking in his pre-match conference, he added: "We have to hold our hands up and say that after looking at it again, I believe that it could have been a sending off.

"But I don't think it should mean that you get abused online because of that. It is part of football.

"At the time, I thought he made what I thought was a really good tackle. Looking at it again, I think it was a bit reckless."

Here are the key lines from his news conference:

• Moyes confirmed Iliman Ndiaye is "in the frame" to start after returning from injury off the bench against Liverpool on Wednesday but is "lacking proper match fitness".

• On Dwight McNeil, who has been absent since December with a knee injury: "Dwight is back in training - he's had about three or four days on the grass. He's getting closer and if we can get him involved we will do."

• Jesper Lindstrom is not available and will be seeing a specialist about a groin problem. Moyes said medical staff are "half looking to see if it's a hernia".

• When asked if Armando Broja and Youssef Chermiti were pushing to start, Moyes said: "Yeah they are knocking at the door. It's great news that we're talking about us getting chances to score. Beto was a little bit unlucky the other night. You look at the points we've got and quite a lot are to do with his goals. We've just missed that last bit but certainly Broja and Chermiti are getting closer to match fitness than they have been."

• Moyes commented on the club statement condemning social media abuse aimed at James Tarkowski: "It's not acceptable for anybody, in any walk of life. I believe it could have been a sending off but that doesn't mean you should be abused online."

• On the decision to allow Diogo Jota's goal on Wednesday: "You can always hide behind words. Anybody who's followed football would see that as offside. I find it really incredible. We're about to go into the semi-automated - it would be interesting to see what they would do about the decision."

• On the final four games at Goodison Park: "It feels as if we're getting to the end of a long season. For everybody who follows Everton, there's not many days left at Goodison. People will be pretty sad it's going but really excited about the prospect of moving to a new stadium."

• On Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, who played under Moyes at Everton: "I'm thrilled for Mikel because he is one of our ex-players. Mikel has done unbelievably well. He's worked under arguably the best manager in the world since Sir Alex [Ferguson] in Pep [Guardiola]. Culturally, he's from Spain but he's played most of his football here, so he's got a really good balance."

After winning four out of five league games against Arsenal between December 2020 and February 2023, Everton are now without a win in their past four league meetings with the Gunners (drawn one, lost three).

Arsenal have won just three of their past 26 away games on Merseyside against Everton and Liverpool (drawn 10, lost 13) in all competitions. They had won six of their previous seven visits before this run.

Martin Odegaard has been involved in five goals in his past seven Premier League appearances against Everton (three goals, two assists), although only one of these goals was scored at Goodison Park.

How objective can fans be when analysing decision for and against their team?

Wednesday's Merseyside derby offered up two controversial moments: the decision not to send off James Tarkowski for a reckless tackle on Alexis Mac Allister and allowing Diogo Jota's winning goal despite Luis Diaz being in an offside position during the build-up.

We put mirror polls up on both our Liverpool and Everton pages to gauge the thoughts of each fanbases on the two decisions.

Here is what the results told us:

As we put our polls out, refereeing body PGMOL were acknowledging an error was made in not dismissing Tarkowski.

Of the people who voted, five per cent of Liverpool fans and 32 per cent of Everton fans still voted that the referee made the right decision to issue a yellow card.

The split in views between the two fan bases is more apparent in the vote on whether Jota's winner should have stood.

By the letter of the law - probably.

Is there an issue with said law? Quite possibly.

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford praised the "fight and character" of the team in their Merseyside derby defeat by Liverpool.

He told BBC Radio Merseyside: "It's never nice to get beat but I think the fight and the character from all of us was great.

"We didn't give in - we fought all the way and one goal in it against the league leaders. They've only lost one game all season so it was a good game and I think we created a few chances, probably could have created more.

"But I think our resilience as a team was good and we need to build on that because we've got a tough few games - that's what the Premier League is all about - playing the best teams."

He added: "I think we've always had that resilience, that grit and determination to keep the ball out of the net and not just from the back four and myself. It's the full team putting a shift in.

"It's how do we improve that 10 per cent, quality with the ball, how do we create more chances? We become an even better team - keep pushing and getting better as a unit."

Liverpool fans

Tommy: Hard-won game with Everton parking the bus and time-wasting. Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah's form has dropped dramatically and both were carried throughout the match while Andy Robertson and Ibou Konate were best at the back. Luis Diaz was like a wasp at a picnic and Dominik Szoboszlai never stopped running. We do need to play better though.

Tyra: Not a great performance but we'll take the three points. If one of our players did what James Tarkowski did, it would have been a straight red immediately without any need for VAR. Ridiculous.

Ken: It was never going to be easy against this Everton team and their tactics so it feels even more satisfying to come out on top after a war of attrition. The team was the star here in battling for every ball. That said, the standard of officiating on the pitch and in the VAR booth was woeful again.

Tim: On the whole we deserved the win but I was concerned how easy our centre-backs were beaten by Beto. Poor defending by both at times and they are world class . And what has happened to Salah? It was like playing with 10 men. That said three hard-fought points and we move on.

Yusuf: Great way to bounce back from a difficult period and no better opponent than our enemies across Stanley Park. Diaz gave 100% throughout and it was a well-taken goal from Jota. And please cut Salah some slack - he has been quiet recently but that is just natural - he's not going to score or assist every game. Just need to keep the machine going for another eight games.

Everton fans

Lee: A decent hard-working performance, and definitely a red card! But the game was won by a goalscorer, which sadly is something we lack! Tough run of games to play but it's in our own hands to stay up.

Mozza: Decent performance but was expecting more. Doucoure and Harrison were a complete waste of time and should not get on the pitch again this season. We should play Broja or Chermiti instead of Beto if they are going to be the future.

Jeff: We could - and might even should - have been ahead with Beto's chance. That's the crucial moment in the match for me. Not the two VAR decicions. But on those matters: Tarkowski was lucky to get away with a yellow and he defended clumsily for their goal. Instead of critising the VAR for a possible offside, we should rather be critical at Tarkowski. He has become a liability this season.

Barry: The right result. We didn't create too much and the massive difference of Liverpool's spend on their squad compared to ours ultimately showed through. Might have been different if Beto had scored rather than hitting the post, but the gulf in class will need to be closed if we hope to get anywhere near European spots, starting with a major overhaul this summer.

Alan: Not the best performance from Everton but considering the injuries list it wasn't bad. I'll take a 1-0 defeat at Anfield by the champions elect. But we must invest in the summer.
